Knock, Knock! Who's There?
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek
Chatter Box's best friend called him yesterday. Since they don't normally talk on the phone, I put it on speaker and listened in. Even though BFF's mom had just found out she would soon be giving him a new baby brother—his first sibling ever and the brother he has always wanted—he made no mention of that. Instead, I heard 10 minutes worth of knock knock jokes. Well, actually, about 2 minutes worth of knock knock jokes—with no real punch line either—and about 8 minutes worth of hysterical laughing. Boys will be boys!
BTW: Since so many peeps asked, this is an iPhone. It has a black/red skin on it, because I probably hold the record for the person that has dropped their cell phone the most! That is not to be confused with how many times I have had dropped calls today on my cell. Come on, Apple! I am such a fan. I thought we had this little problem fixed :).

I remember doing that. It seemed so important to talk about nothing as long as it was being done over the phone.

awwww isnt he just so cute...he reminds me of my nephew-i know I have prolly said that before...but they could be brothers

Okay, I live a sheltered life. That thing is a phone? lol
October 10, 2008 at 11:48 AM
It starts. :)
And their knock knock jokes sound like my daughter's. They never make a lick of sense.

my mother took my oldest to preschool for me one morning because i was otherwise occupied. she recounts how the teacher immediately said, "i hear you have news!!!! what happened last night??!!" to which my son said happily, "IT SNOWED!!!!!!!!"
yes, it had, indeed snowed. but i had also just given birth to his new baby brother.
go figure...

My 7 year old loves knock knock jokes. And will make up her own. That make no sense. And she LOVES riddles. Is constantly asking me to tell her one. She doesn't like to hear that I don't know any more. And cannot believe I can't make it up on the spot like she can.

I love those convos: "what are you doing", "how was school", "did you have a good night of sleep last night". They are so cute!

I listened in on my son's phone conversation several months ago to his BFF and they talked forever about a video game, forever. And they would just crack up! You're right, boys will be boys! LOVE IT!
And I was thinking the same as Rhonda, never seen a phone like that!

SO, CUTE! I remember being that age and thinking that it was a right of passage to be able to talk on the phone. My BFF lived across the stree and we would still spend hours on the phone after we finished playing...

my daughter is 13 and is always on the phone. i SWEAR the other day i walked past her room and saw her on her bed reading a joke book to her friend over the phone.
me thinks this is just a little preview of your life...lol. it never stops!

I am leaving my iphone for the same reason.
The Phone is a modern marvel. The service is a modern nightmare.
I will miss it. On the other hand, I'll have cell service again. ;)

I just came across your blog, and I will definitely be back!
My daughter does the same thing and then all of the sudden she will say "I gotta go!" and hang up. I asked why she was in such a hurry and where did she need to be? She just said that she was done talking.

I am so behind on my blog reading/commenting--sorry.
I love your doggie post--so sweet. We lost both our dogs about two years ago. I still miss my sweet KC and Nikki. Dogs are the sweetest creatures I think.
Your little guy is cute. Boys are SO funny. I'm thoroughly enjoying my two little guys!

Oh, he looks so cool with his iPhone...even if he is telling knock-knock jokes with it! LOL
October 12, 2008 at 12:28 AM
Yeah. I have a black rubber case on mine, AND hubby happily pays for the $3 insurance each month for um...replacement purposes. He's fine with $36/year, and not so much $250/year....you get me...
October 12, 2008 at 2:56 AM
i think i'm right behind you for the person-who-has-dropped-their-phone the most record!
October 12, 2008 at 6:48 AM
What a cutie! I used to love talking on the phone just because it looked cool. It didn't matter what we were talking about.
I like Apple! Can't wait for a mac AND an Iphone. Hopefully Santa will be good this year!
Great PSF!

I love listening to Gage's conversations with his friends...too funny the things they talk about!!
October 12, 2008 at 4:33 PM
When kids learn knock knock jokes, you are in trouble.!!
October 12, 2008 at 6:28 PM
Hi Jyl! I've got an award for you over on my blog! Hope you had a great weekend!

I covet your phone! I still have a dinosaur...I think there's a hamster running my phone...:)
October 12, 2008 at 7:36 PM
My cell phone had a cracked screen and 3 buttons that don't work... I might have ya beat!!! :)
Too cute!
October 13, 2008 at 7:49 AM
I love listening in on those phone calls (I spend most of the time laughing thinking, "What the h*ll are they talking about?")...always fun to talk to mom later to get the translation.
October 13, 2008 at 8:28 AM
I remember those types of conversations. Sometimes it was so awkward because we wouldn't talk. We'd both be doing something else like eating dinner or watching TV. But we were on the phone. And thats what was important.
October 13, 2008 at 2:46 PM
As much as I want to have fun with my children, random knock, knock jokes with no punchline is just not funny to me -- but apparently to every child on Earth!!!!
Very cute.
October 14, 2008 at 11:26 AM
I LOVE my iPhone and have never had any real problems with it. Oh..and the replacement cost...try $800, not $250. AT&T subsidizes the cost of your first one, but if you need to replace it you'll be paying FULL PRICE!
October 14, 2008 at 7:43 PM
AT&T is a pain in MY butt...
Love the knock knock jokes! LOL! He's so flippin' cute!
October 15, 2008 at 1:44 AM
I always think how cute it is to listen to their voices on the phone...they sound so young, so cute, so innocent..and to talk about nothing...the luxury and that's the best part of being a kid! Love the pics too.
October 15, 2008 at 4:58 PM
That's hilarious they just knock, knock jokes and laughed the whole time. How sweet!!
That's a nice skin on your iPhone. I lust after one of those badly...the iphone, not the skin. Although I'd take that too. lol
